Fiumalbo is a historic village in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and is considered a true mountain city of art. Its city center is among the most beautiful and best preserved in the area. Walking along the streets you immediately notice the medieval features still present today on the facades of some buildings.
The town of Abetone is surrounded by coniferous forests and is located on the Tuscan side of the Apennines. Today it is a famous ski resort which has seen the birth of ski champions such as Celina Seghi and Zeno Colò. In the past, however, the village was only a small customs station guarding the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. The Abetone pass is still marked today by two large pyramids located in the historic center.
The village of Cutigliano is one of the oldest in the Pistoia mountains. Its historic center still preserves many testimonies of the period in which the town was the base of the "Captain of the Mountain", the representative delegated by Pistoia to administer the entire area. Heraldic coats of arms and details that recall the Middle Ages can be found on the facade of several buildings.
Pievepelago is home to the Regional Park of the Upper Modenese Apennines and is an important point of reference for all the towns on the Emilian side. The village is surrounded by high mountain peaks and thick chestnut and conifer forests. Its territory is ideal for trekking and mountain biking, but also for horseback riding.
